I am a huge visual learner, so I benefit greatly from writing notes in a notebook and drawing pictures to go along with the notes. Writing things down helps my brain build a visual image of my notes which helps me a great deal during assessments! I get a lot of questions about my notes, so hopefully this post will answer some of those questions and help anyone struggling with taking notes during online learning. I have outlined how I take notes for three of my classes (AP Biology, Math, and History) but the methods can be translated to any class really! Click "Read More" to dive in! *Disclaimer: the majority of this post was written while school was still in session, so these methods will need to be adapted to how your teacher is approaching online learning* AP BiologyMy notebook for Advanced Placement Biology is the perfect example of when pretty meets productive. I have found a system that works for me and I hope you can make it work for you! I divide my notes into 3 sections to help me stay organized, but you can do whatever works best for you.
MathSome FAQ: Q: Do you write your notes in class? A: Yes I do! Recopying would take too long! Q: How do you write all the information and draw pictures that fast? A: I have gotten to the point where I can write really efficiently and neatly but it also helps that I only copy down the essential information. Don’t copy word for word unless your teacher specifically tells you to! I leave space for my diagrams while I am writing, but I usually draw them quickly when my teacher starts to give examples or tell stories! Q: What pen and highlighters do you use? A: I use a Pilot G2 .05 pen and Zebra Mildliners!
