Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing well! I have *finally* gotten around to writing this highly requested post- sorry for the delay! I hope this post answers all your questions and pushes you to make a website if you have been on the fence about it. Click "Read More" to dive in! How I started & WhyI have always loved writing and in middle school I got the idea to start a blog. I don't know where this idea exactly came from, but on September 20th, 2014 this website was born! I had seen Weebly as a popular free website builder, so that is what I chose. I really wanted to share everything I was passionate about, and I am happy to say that I am still doing that today! At the beginning, I shared short blog posts about middle school (as I was starting 6th grade), DIYs, and activities to do during the summer. In 2016 I got a Happy Planner and started sharing planner related items. I joined the planner community on Instagram in 2017 and naturally my blog became more planner-focused! Now in 2020 I share planner posts, fashion posts, and motivational posts. I also try to share my goals and personal development! What you need to startIf you want or are interested in starting a blog, I highly recommend you do! It is so fun to share and interact with like-minded people. My blog has brought me so many opportunities and it is something that I'm proud to show off. The basics you need to start include a website, an idea, and a passion. Like I mentioned, I use Weebly but you can use any free (or not free) website builder. I think even Google has a basic one. At this time, I don't make any money off of my blog so a free one works best for me. For the idea part, I recommend writing about you and what you love. This is the basic principle I use for all my social media channels, and this helps me stay authentic and share a large range of topics without it seeming random. The last part is passion. It takes passion be excited about what you are sharing. If you are not passionate, blogging will feel like a chore or an obligation. You also need passion to stay dedicated. It was years before I got any readers that were not relatives. I was/still am passionate about sharing what I love with others, so I have stuck with it! My Process, How To Develop Content, And What To Write
How To Keep Up With ItI am guilty of falling behind and not sharing regularly on here, because when I get really busy in school in life I have to drop my blog. I am trying to combat this by working on batch content. When I am less busy, I will set aside time to write a bunch of blog posts. When I am busy, I can just type them out or post them if they are already typed up. I recommend setting a schedule for yourself. For awhile I would write on Fridays, take photos on Saturdays, and post on Sundays. Writer's BlockSometimes nothing feels appealing to share and that is okay. Just take sometime to reset and do activities that make you feel inspired. Watching fashion competitions and cooking shows always inspire me. Batch content is also helpful for this. If I'm not inspired to write, I can always share a post I have already typed up! I hope this helps and inspires you. If you want to start a blog but are hesitant, just do it! The world wants to read what you have to say! If you have a blog or website- drop it below! I would love to check it out. Leave any questions below too.
Also, a BIG thank you to you! It means a lot to me that you read my blog. <3
