4/27/2020 2 Comments 2020 Goal Check InJust like that, the first quarter of the year is over! I normally do a mid-year check in, but I thought there is no better time than the present! Click "Read More" to read about my intentions for the year and if they have stuck. Goal #1 Space/The VisionEvery year I set one word to encompass what I want in my year and what goals I want to accomplish. This year I chose the word "space" and boy did that manifest into my life! Besides the literal meaning, space means space to grow, space to make mistakes, space for what I love, and space to shine. It also means taking space from negative people and things, and taking space from my phone. So far my word has been doing a good job of reminding me to give myself some breathing room and to prioritize what means the most to me. Quarantine has also reminded me of these things. Although I would like a little less space between me and my best friends, I know it is good for me to step back and get back to the basics in life. My vision for the year is best represented on my vision board. I envisioned this year to be spent on the things that fuel me: family, friends, and the outdoors. I also wanted to trust the universe and know good things are ahead when things get bad. Quarantine has stressed this, and I have tried to stay positive and realize somethings are just out of my control. Goal #2 less Than 30 Minutes on My Phone a DayThis was a lofty goal and I want to get there by the end of the year, but for now I have changed the goal to less than 30 minutes on Instagram a day. Because my "job" is social media, I tend to use it to justify my endless scrolling. I want to post, interact with my friends, and stop before I waste time. I could honestly do better with this goal and I need to. I want to get better about this, but I also want to give myself grace because there is a world wide pandemic right now and social media is an escape for me. Goal #3 Try New Foods, Meal Plan, and Cook More Meals for The FamI wanted to expand my palate this year and discover new meals. I am a vegetarian, lactose intolerant, and I try to limit the amount of animal products (like eggs) I consume, so I find myself eating the same things all the time. I also wanted to get in the groove of meal planning so that I could rotate between recipes I love. So far this goal has gone relatively well. I am way more open to new foods than I was a few years ago. I also have been trying to branch out in baby steps by eating variations of foods I love. I really need to kick my butt into gear and start meal planning though. I want to dedicate an afternoon to thumbing through recipe books and Pinterest. My favorite recipe (lemon pasta) was found on Pinterest from going down a recipe rabbit hole. With that in mind, do you have a vegan recipe or a recipe that could be made vegan? Comment them down below! :) Goal #4 Get Back to Yoga 3x a WeekI did yoga 3x a week before school for 4 months in 2019 and it helped with the stress I had. I fell off of doing it with some unexpected events that came up and I never got back to it. I wanted to get back to it this year for my mental and physical well being. I have flopped with this goal. I have done yoga maybe 5 times this year thus far. I'm giving myself grace and have set a new goal of exercising three times a week. I have recently taken up running again and it has helped me release any anxiety I am feeling. I also walk Luna frequently. I hope that this inspires you to not give up on your 2020 goals- they just might need to be tweaked after the January "I can do it all" attitude has faded. I also hope this reminds you that you are not alone if you are struggling with your 2020 goals.
